Chris Magee has lived and worked all
over the world. He was born in Rangoon, raised in Hong Kong, and
schooled in Boston. Chris began his career working as a film magazine
loader on a Cuban feature film in Miami in 1980. After managing a
Panavision franchise, Chris moved to California and worked as a focus
puller on music videos, television commercials, and feature films for
many excellent cinematographers.
Fourteen years ago Chris moved up to
Director of Photography working on top end television commercials. As a
DP he has also shot documentaries and a feature film. He has filmed in
the US, France, Canada, Peru, South Africa, India, New Zealand, and
Australia. His well-traveled, multicultural background makes him easily
adaptable to work proficiently in any location.
Chris has experience in film formats
from 35mm down to 8mm, video formats from DV to HD, as well as digital
photography. He has also filmed aerial and underwater sequences,
time-lapse, green screen, and motion control.
Chris has a depth of knowledge,
experience, sensitivity, and creativity that he brings to every
director’s specific vision. He’s also fast at strategically scaling his
equipment and crew needs to fit most producers’ budgets.
